‘Outstanding’ result.

Four wines submitted and four wines rated “outstanding”  Not a bad strike rate! We are so very proud to be acknowledged as a Five Star winery in the 2021 Edition of James Halliday’s Wine companion. From here we can see the rarefied air inhabited by those great wines that inspired us to embark on this journey. We still have work to do but perhaps we are finding the right path.

A pair of organic gems from New Zealand.

Greenhough has been a star performer since joining the portfolio in 2014 and the team at The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker and crew) consistently agree. The Nelson climate, the Barnicoat clays and interleaved river gravels, the mature vines and Andrew Greenhough’s deft touch have all contributed to this pair of stunning wines. It’s a timely reminder that organic farming is not only better for our environment but when combined with vision and patience delivers a better wine from living soils.

Welcome Berthollier.

We are very excited to Welcome Didier and Denis Bethollier to the Traverse wines. Their family has grown grapes around the village of  Chignin, Savoie since the 1850’s, surviving the scourge of phylloxera, vertiginous slopes and harsh alpine winters. The brothers farm their special site on the southern flanks of the Bauges massif organically and produce some of the finest examples of the classic indigenous Savoie varietals – Altesse, Jacquere and Mondeuse as well Gamay and a head turning Chignin Bergeron from the steepest sun baked schist slopes.

Discover a real alpine terroir and get your laughing gear around some wines with altitude!
